Color Management - An easy introduction to consistent true colors in capture - edit - print

Calibrating other devices

Just like you have calibrated your monitor and printer you can also calibrate other input and output devices used in your workflow to ensure accurate colors.

Calibrating the monitor and printer does it for most people but if you use a high-end projector or plasma screen to display your images for clients or public these need to be calibrated as well. Luckily with the Spyder3Elite you can also calibrate a front light projector and plasma presentation screen (without TV tuner).

If you use a TV with build in tuner for your presentation you need the Spyder3TV calibrator instead. This product is specifically designed for TV calibration since a TV doesn't have an operating system like Microsoft Windows or Mac OS, and therefore can't use ICC profiling.

If you are like me you have looked at the many different options in the image menu on your TV and thought, How on earth am I to make sure that I get the correct and best result? Most people then say, I'll just stick with the factory settings. Unfortunately factory settings are not set to give the best image in your home environment. Factory settings are set to give the brightest image for the show floor in the retail shop. This is a place with lots of flu-resent lights and nothing like your living room.

The calibration process of a TV with Spyder3TV is just as easy as with a monitor. The Spyder3TV software guides you through the different settings on your TV menu for adjusting. At each setting like brightness and contrast the Spyder3TV measures the different options directly on your TV screen and tells you the correct setting for the best picture possible.

A positive side effect to calibrating your computer monitor and TV besides beautiful accurate colors is increased life time of the product. Incorrectly adjusted monitors and TVs have a shorter life time than those that has been color calibrated. This is mainly due to that most people by default have their monitors set with way to much brightness and contrast. Having the best possible image on your screen also reduces headache, eyesight problems and dizziness. A calibrated display makes you feel better when working in front of your monitor for a prolonged period of time.
